Responsibilities

  • Operate other mechanical equipment to load truck
  • Maintain and check mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Prepare operational checklist and reports malfunctions requiring repair
  • Perform safety walk around inspection before shift
  • Fuel and clean the truck cab
  • Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times
  • Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Job Summary

Drives and operates dump truck (up to 150 tons) equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel and stone.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drive and operate truck to transport and dump
  • Pull lever or turn cranks to tilt body and dump contents
  • Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward or back to loosen and dump material adhering to body of the truck
  • Operate other mechanical equipment to load truck
  • Maintain and check mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Prepare operational checklist and reports malfunctions requiring repair
  • Perform safety walk around inspection before shift
  • Fuel and clean the truck cab
  • Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed

Qualifications
  • Prior experience required with similar or same equipment or truck
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Bilingual a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple problems from standardized situations
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition and subtraction, two digit numbers and units of measurements
  • Ability to read English sufficiently to be able to read all sentences
  • Basic English language skills to recognize words and differences between words
  • Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctioning and respond accordingly
  • Ability to operate equipment in reverse using mirrors
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to detect potential breakdown of equipment
  • High level of attentiveness and physical coordination to operate truck safely in heavy traffic areas
Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing to a significant degree, and/or pulling of controls
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
