Job summary

King Asphalt is seeking an experienced CDL driver to operate tandem, triaxle, bottom dump or flatbed dump trucks transporting construction materials to sites in Rock Hill, SC. CDL B or A with 2 years driving experience is required; safe operation and daily DOT compliance are emphasized.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, secure loads, monitor weight, complete trip tickets and DOT logs, and assist crew as needed. King Asphalt is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Job description

Purpose

Perform duties to drive a tandem, triaxle, bottom dump or flatbed dump truck for the purpose of transporting construction materials to appointed/assigned job site and thereby perform various tasks needed in the safest and most expedient manner. Qualification: Must have a CDL B or (A) with 2 years driving experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform pre-trip inspection which includes: checking oil, water, fuel, tires and lights on tractor trailer each morning prior to starting the day's activities. Must report any problems or malfunctions to supervisor. Receive job assignment from supervisor or dispatcher. Drive to specified area to pick up material such as asphalt, fill dirt, stock sand, stone, etc. to be delivered to job site. Monitor the loading of material onto the truck to ensure even distribution and proper weight is maintained. Thoroughly cover and secure the load prior to transporting. The ability to load and transport material to the appointed destination in a safe and efficient manner. Comply with all company, DOT, Federal, State, and local safety regulations. The ability to complete a trip ticket for each move made or keep receipt for materials hauled and turn tickets in to supervisor. The ability to complete the daily DOT logbook and turn in as required to supervisor or dispatcher. Complete and turn in other required forms and reports to supervisor or dispatcher. The ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs to truck such as painting, washing, cleaning, etc. The ability to assist crew you were assigned to work with, in the performance of various laborious work, when truck is not needed or in use. Follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Must have two years and up driving experience to become familiar with the safe and proper operation of dump body truck, hauling materials, backing up to paving equipment, working next to traffic, dumping on various subgrades and inclines.

Initiative And Integrity

Use of some judgment to comply with instructions or prescribed routines, methods or practices involving the making of minor decisions.

Physical Demand

Moderate physical effort required to operate truck and get water. Occasional lifting of light weight material up to 25 pounds with rarely lifting or moving heavy weight material over 60 pounds. Position would require the ability to lift 60-pound material.

Federal and State laws require driver to pass a DOT physical. The physical does exclude some handicaps and does require applicant to pass a NIDA Drug Screen.
