Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX is seeking a transportation courier to support routine operation and minor maintenance of university vehicles used for transporting materials and passengers.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a Texas Class C license, and the ability to complete a defensive driving course within 30 days of hire. Weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Completion of a defensive driver course within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess a current Texas Class “C” driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients and other passengers on and off campus, assisting them in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Deliver and/or retrieve materials as instructed.
• Assist in loading and unloading of materials from the vehicle.
• Maintain daily log of mileage, trips, passengers/cargo, destinations, and fuel/oil consumption.
• Inspect the vehicle condition regularly (oil, fuel, tires, water).
• Report needed adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
• Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
• Perform related duties as required.

Job Duties:

• Transfer patients and other assigned passengers on and/or off campus, assisting them in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Deliver and/or retrieve materials as instructed.
• Assists in the loading and unloading of materials from the vehicle.
• Maintains daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers/cargo, destination, and fuel and oil consumption.
• Inspects the condition of the assigned vehicle on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires, and water.
• Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
• Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Equipment:

Operation of vehicles, including trucks or vans.

Lifting and moving heavy objects. Drive vehicles under adverse weather conditions and have the ability to cope with emergency driving situations.

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule will be Monday through Friday with occasional weekends/holidays.
