Job summary

The Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI) is seeking a Driver – Class B to provide door-through-door transportation for CEI participants and perform routine vehicle inspections. The role includes assisting participants, delivering items, and maintaining accurate route paperwork in a respectful, safety‑minded manner.

Candidate must have a CA Class B license with passengers endorsement, a clean DMV record, and demonstrate basic English communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years driving experience; one year transporting elderly or disabled preferred.
• Clean DMV record and valid CA Class B license with passengers endorsement.
• Basic English, clear communication and ability to convey information.
• First Aid/CPR certification within two weeks of orientation and maintained.
• Knowledge of safe vehicle operation, equipment and safety rules.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with Alameda and/or West Contra Costa areas.
• Must pass and maintain DOT Regulations certification.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport participants to homes, CEI sites, medical appointments and outings.
• Provide assistance when boarding and alighting, including in homes when required.
• Report unusual situations or medical changes to the Road Supervisor.
• Handle additional transportation duties, including medication or supply deliveries.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily maintenance checks.
• Complete route sheets and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Maintain courteous attitude toward participants and families.
• Follow CEI policies, safety guidelines and meet quality standards.
