Job description

Purpose

Responsible for driving delivery vehicles and/or operating truck-trailer combinations to transport and deliver materials to customer sites. Adheres to driver safety/compliance regulations, delivers undamaged goods on schedule, and provides professional service to customers. Drive vehicles weighing greater than 26,000 pounds and may tow vehicles or trailers less than 10,000 pounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. May load or assist with loading and securing product, materials, or supplies inside delivery vehicle.
  2. Delivers customer orders to specified delivery site.
  3. Maneuvers vehicles into loading or unloading positions and ensures proper positioning of vehicle and equipment.
  4. Assists customers with unloading materials safely and accurately.
  5. Protects the product and customer's property during handling.
  6. Verifies order details and maintains logs of delivery duties, including amounts, weights, mileage, and locations.
  7. Checks items against invoice for accuracy.
  8. Acts as a customer service liaison, handling concerns and resolving issues.
  9. Maintains cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles; performs routine safety checks.
  10. Uses handheld devices (except while driving) to ensure compliance with DVIR and HOS.
  11. Maintains hours of service logs and performs pre/post trip inspections.
  12. May perform credit/product return pickups and related paperwork.
  13. Operates forklifts or non-motorized equipment to load and unload materials.
  14. Follows all safety procedures to prevent injuries; attends safety meetings; suggests safety improvements.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license and Class B CDL license
  • At least 1 year of delivery driving experience; 2 years preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR
  • Obtain DOT medical card
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Ability to read and speak English

Work Environment / Physical Activity

Work is performed in a production environment with temperature variations, chemicals, mechanical parts, noise, and dust. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 200 pounds with assistance. Tasks may involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling. Must be physically capable of operating delivery vehicles.
