Job summary

The San Antonio Food Bank INC is seeking a qualified driver responsible for pickups and distribution of donated food and groceries across our 29-county service area. You will weigh and document donations, maintain vehicles, and ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements.

This role involves outdoor work, driving to multiple locations, and providing excellent donor service. Requirements include a High School diploma, CDL Class B, Texas license, vehicle insurance, and pre-employment

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • CDL Class B certification.
  • Texas driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Pre-employment drug screen is required.
  • Forklift/pallet jack training or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up food from local donors as scheduled.
  • Unload donated products to on-site facilities.
  • Provide initial donation receipt with signatures.
  • Weigh, classify and warehouse donated products per procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment, including inspecting and cleaning.
  • Keep current driver license, certifications and insurance.
  • Act as ambassador of the organization with donors and partners.
  • Work with flexible schedules, including weekends.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Job description

General Description: This position is responsible for picking up and securing all food and grocery item donations. The employee is responsible for the distribution of food and grocery items to agencies in the 29 county service areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Pick up food from local donors as scheduled.
  • Unload donated products to on-site feeding facilities.
  • Provide initial donation receipt with proper signatures to donors and recipients.
  • Weigh, classify and warehouse donated products according to acceptable warehousing practices.
  • Provide backup donation receipt daily to Transportation Coordinator for data entry and provides mileage logs, vehicle inspection logs.
  • Clean and audit vehicle as required.
  • Ensure maintenance of vehicles is accomplished as necessary.
  • Keep current driver license, food handler certification, material handling equipment license or certification and any other permit/license required to perform duties.
  • Act as an ambassador of the San Antonio Food Bank when conducting business with donors, potential donors, partner agencies, donation recipients, volunteers, etc.
  • Act and perform in a safe manner.
  • Accept additional duties as assigned.
  • Work schedules may vary based on needs. We operate 7 days a week.

Applicants are required to submit to a drug test as part of the hiring process

Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • CDL Class B
  • Willing to work days assigned including weekends as needed.
  • Forklift/pallet jack trained.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver's license, clean driving record and current vehicle insurance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects with hand and arms; talk and hear. Able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and frequently will require one to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
