Summary
Perform or assist in the performance of moving, hauling, loading, and transporting materials, supplies, and equipment in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale, and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section. Support company-wide efforts which involve multiple duties and functions on a daily and long-term basis.
This is a manual labor, physically intensive position with repetitive tasks. All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on weekends, and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review maintenance of winch trucks, haul trucks, trailers, and supporting equipment (including backhoes, forklifts, pickup trucks, etc.) before, during, and after shifts.
- Leave equipment in clean, operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance repair issues to the Transportation and Logistics Manager or Supervisor-in-Training, which includes asking to have broken tools repaired/replaced. Discontinue use of broken items and dispose of broken tools that cannot be repaired.
- Assist mechanics with basic maintenance of trucks – specifically with performing oil changes every 10,000 miles or 3 months.
- Comply with all Texas Department of Transportation rules and regulations, including but not limited to maintaining driver’s log book, completing pre-trip inspections, observing safety laws, abiding by weight limits, and checking for current registrations on trucks and trailers.
- Complete Driver Vehicle inspection reports and turn them into the box by the time clock after each shift.
- Ensure that all receipts, bills of lading, and shipment tickets are submitted to the appropriate departmental manager.
- Load and rig up equipment to ensure that the load is balanced.
- Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.
- Store and care for all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Perform basic housekeeping including disposing of garbage; cleaning and organizing the interior and exterior of vehicles, equipment, parking areas, and employee lockers before, during, and after shifts.
- Park equipment and vehicles in their assigned place.
- Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures, which include all Texas Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
- Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- Immediately notify the supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
- Must carry and be available by a Weisinger Incorporated-assigned phone and be readily available to report to work as needed on a regular and emergency basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in another department as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or applicable experience required.
- Basic forklift and heavy haul equipment experience required.
- Truck-mounted crane and winch experience preferred.
- Tractor, backhoe, or forklift experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License required.
- Forklift and crane training required (or be willing to complete).
- Hazmat/tanker stamp (CDL “x” endorsement) required (or willing to obtain).
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals, and standards written or spoken in English required.
- Ability to understand and write in English required.
Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematical skills required include:
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Special Equipment Skills
A working knowledge of the following is required:
- Rig up and balance loads.
- Basic hand tools.
- Basic electrical power tools.
Reasoning Ability
The following reasoning abilities are required:
- Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form including several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, assisted.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color, and ability to adjust focus required.
- This position requires full use of arms and back, and is comprised of repetitive motions.
- Stamina is required as employees may work overtime, on nights and/or weekends.
- Compliance with 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4 (which includes but is not limited to satisfactory Texas Department of Transportation physical exam and random drug testing) required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts at eye level or overhead; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration; mud; grease; diesel fuel; wet and/or humid conditions; extreme heat/cold; direct sunlight; and other outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles; and icy surfaces occurs. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
