Job summary

Dairy Challenge is seeking a qualified truck driver to operate straight trucks, tractor-trailers, or doubles in a safe, efficient manner. You will deliver products to customers and warehouses according to a supervisor-designed route, while maintaining excellent customer service and clear communication with peers and managers.

Responsibilities include following DOT and DFA rules, loading at stops, reporting delays, and completing daily paperwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle following DOT and DFA rules and safety practices.
• Deliver products per route schedule and meet customer expectations.
• Report delays due to road conditions or breakdowns to management.
• Load/unload as required; stock and/or order products per route.
• Maintain good customer relations and report issues to supervisors.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and keep the vehicle clean.
• Complete daily paperwork and log/trip records per policy.
• Perform load inventory and document freight condition before departure.
• Attend driver workshops and training sessions and use company systems.
• Represent the company positively during customer interactions.

Job description

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
• Use company supported applications or systems properly
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
