Job summary

Divert is hiring a Driver in Mechanicsburg to support CDL driving needs for our operations. The role involves daily local routes with home daily, adherence to DOT/FMCSA rules, and collaboration with Logistics and Operations to keep transport running smoothly.

You will drive Class A vehicles, perform pre/post inspections, and manage logs and paperwork. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is offered along with benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license required.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a driver.
• Dump experience preferred; tanker experience highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform CDL Class A driving for Divert's Mechanicsburg location and customers served.
• Comply with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company policies; maintain logs via ELD.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report issues to management.
• Fuel and manage routes efficiently; ensure paperwork (BOLs) is correct and submitted.
• Coordinate with Logistics and Operations to minimize disruptions; maintain open communication.

What You’ll Do:

As a Driver at Divert you will be part of a team responsible for all CDL driving needs for our Mechanicsburg location and the customers they serve along with daily tasks, leadership responsibilities pertaining to improving communication across departments and educating on our logistics processes.

This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her safety as well as the safety of others.

Responsibilities:

• Perform the necessary CDL Class A driving needs for the company
• Comply with all DOT, FMCSA regulations and in-house rules, procedures and policies.
• Complete a daily truck log via Electronic Logging Device (ELD) to record reports of mileage covered at the end of each day.
• Complete daily inspections of the vehicle(s) at the beginning (pre-trip) and end (post-trip) of the shift via ELD and/or DVIR and report any problems or damage to management.
• Adequately perform all the physical functions necessary of a truck driver (e.g. connecting/disconnecting air and electrical lines, ensure landing gear is set, ensure trailer king pin is engaged to truck, etc.) to ensure any trailer loads/cargo are safely transported.
• Install tire chains as necessary/required per DOT or state requirements dependent on the weather.
• Complete all necessary trailer swaps, all trailer types at the facility, in order to optimize business operations.
• Conduct daily, open communication with Divert Logistics and Operations team members before departing from our facility each day to ensure alignment between departments in order to not cause any business disruption.
• Retrieve and turn in all necessary paperwork (e.g. Outgoing BOL, Incoming BOL, etc.) to the proper team members/Customer at the given Origin/Destination.
• Fuel the tractors as necessary in order to get to and from each Origin/Destination via the Fuel Card supplied by the company. In an emergency, or certain unforeseen situation(s), a personal payment method for fuel is acceptable if needed but management needs to be contacted for approval and all receipts should be saved for proper reimbursement.
• Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
• Manage routes and routines so they proceed in the most efficient way possible.

What We’re Looking For:

• Class A CDL required
• Minimum of 2 years Experience in a driver position required
• Dump Experience preferred
• Tanker hauling experience and endorsement highly preferred but not required - we are willing to train if you are willing to get your endorsement!
• Familiar and comfortable with Slip Seating
