Job Description

• Transport raw materials, work in process, and finished goods between various establishments such as manufacturing plants, freight depots, and warehouses using company tractor with a pintle hook or fifth wheel.
• Recognize and perform minor mechanical repairs needed to keep trucks in good working order.
• Complete vehicle circle checks and pre/post-trip inspections on every trip.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of operating larger vehicles with heavier loads, including those with air brakes, which are more susceptible to sliding and tipping, and are difficult to maneuver, especially when turning and backing.
• Skill and knowledge to operate these vehicles across various roads, including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and steep winding grades.
• Knowledge about route legality, overpass clearances, and restrictions based on weight limits.
• Understanding of State and local safety rules and regulations, as well as rules in other jurisdictions for vehicle operation.
• Knowledge and skill to load cargo properly onto the vehicle using appropriate tie-downs such as chains, binders, or straps for transit on public roads at highway speeds or similar driving conditions.
• Familiarity with the operator's manual for assigned vehicles and the ability to apply this knowledge in driving situations.
• Ability to recognize developing maintenance issues during vehicle inspections and report technical problems to the supervisor.

Additional Information

1st shift - Class A and/or Class B required.

The pay range for this role at the specified location is $18.20 to $26.80 per hour. The actual rate may vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. The total compensation may include a sign-on bonus of $X,XXX, overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
