Job summary

Description
Position Summary:
The primary function of the Driver/Bulk Material Handler position is to provide operational support across multiple functions based on business needs. This role will serve as a Route Driver for the collection and transportation of used oil and used oil filters or as Bulk Material Handler tending to needs at the Azle locations or at the Rail Spur in Fort Worth, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
This is an hourly position, Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions
Driving

  • Operate company trucks for the pickup, delivery, and transportation of used oil and oil filters.
  • Safely load and unload used oil and oil filters from customer and company locations.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including manifests, Bills of lading, and e-logs.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Actively seek new customers and assist in route expansion.
  • Perform tank inventory control, including tank measurements and recording data.
  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements set by the company.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of industry-standard safety, health, and environmental practices, including compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Maintain all required certifications as required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
  • Keep company property clean and in good condition.
  • Perform duties in compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Undergo periodic industrial safety training as mandated by regulatory authorities and the company.
  • Maintain regular communication with the office and supervisor via mobile communication.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bulk Material Handler
  • Calculate levels/volumes in tanks/railcars using basic math.
  • Complete all required paperwork with accuracy.
  • Communicate with the terminal operator on tank lineups and gauges prior to loading/offloading/transferring.
  • Load and offload railcars, flexi bags, and VGO safely and efficiently, making sure railcars have been accurately gauged, sampled, and temperatures taken.
  • Ensure all railcar inspections are performed correctly for every railcar onsite. Discrepancies/issues should be documented on the Pre/Post inspection sheet and reported to the Branch Manager.
  • Monitor incoming trucks bringing in used motor oil, antifreeze, and oily water.
  • Monitor the loading/unloading operations the entire time the pump is moving product to or from the truck.
  • Responsible for proper handling of containment outfall draining in accordance with SPCC plan.
  • Monitor tank levels and transfer inventory in/out as needed.
  • Perform maintenance, housekeeping, or other activities in the warehouse, truck rack, rail area, and dock area as directed by supervisor.
  • Ensure location is kept in outstanding condition that meets the standard of our company.
  • Prepare the rail spur for drivers and make sure the rail spur is kept up to company standard.
  • Train relief personnel on railcar unloading operations as needed.
  • Understand basic pump operation: cavitation, seal leaks, vibration, etc. to maintain efficient equipment.
  • Operate a basic pressure washer.
  • Inspect all incoming railcars against DOT regulations (49 CFR 180.509 - Requirements for inspection and test of specification tank cars.).
Requirements
  • Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements required.
  • Must be able to drive manual or standard transmission company vehicle.
  • Valid DOT medical card and physical form required.
  • Must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Clearinghouse.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in commercial driving, with knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good driving record is required.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating manuals, and procedure documents.
  • Ability to write route reports and complete the required DOT paperwork.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to drive powered fork trucks and be aware of their load limits.
