Position Overview: Through education and driving skills development, become proficient in the operation of a tractor trailer combination. Responsibilities include non-driving duties such as forklift operation and working the dock.

Essential Functions:

1. Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
2. Perform safety inspections on equipment
3. Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
4. Handle freight using appropriate equipment
5. Secure freight inside trailers
6. Recoup/repair damaged freight
7. Complete documentation and reports
8. Collect checks and maintain related documentation
9. Comply with hazardous material regulations
10. Follow dispatch instructions
11. Demonstrate customer service
12. Communicate with customers about pick-up/delivery needs
13. Perform duties of a road driver or freight handler as needed
14. Chain vehicle tires, as required
15. Comply with laws and company policies
16. Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Class A CDL or learning permit
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
• Meet DOT regulatory requirements
• Basic math skills
• Basic communication skills
• Ability to lift and handle heavy trailers and freight
• Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks

Working Conditions:

• Drive in all weather conditions
• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials
• Hours may vary

Additional Details:

• Pay Range: $25.46 - $30.32/hr
• Starting Rate: $25.46/hr
