Department Details

Responsibilities include motor vehicle handling, communication, and patient/resident handling, with a focus on sensitivity and confidentiality at all times. The driver must develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status, working with all ages. Ensures safe transportation, maintains equipment, sets up according to manufacturer and policy, and keeps records as per DOT and internal requirements. Communicates scheduling conflicts proactively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be 21 years or older with excellent customer service skills.
• Driver history must meet Sanford's insurability standards.
• Valid driver’s license and compliance with medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; if not held at hire, must be obtained within six months with training provided.
• If operating an ambulance in Minnesota, must complete an approved EMR driver course.
