Qualifications

• Requires a valid MI driver endorsements (Passenger, Chauffeur, Commercial) and medical physical.
• Must be at least 20 years old and have an excellent driving record.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and security monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation for employees, guests and community groups to and from various locations.
• Perform limited maintenance and care of department vehicles and equipment.
• Notify supervisor of anticipated repair needs.
• Use the radio to communicate with dispatch and other shuttle drivers while in route.
• Monitor parking area and grounds for suspicious activity or hazards and report them.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time in accordance with regulations and department policy.

Job Summary

The Driver position is a safety-sensitive position that requires a high degree of responsibility transporting staff, patients, and visitors in a safe, timely and professional manner. The driver must be able to operate vehicle in all weather and driving conditions with multiple distractions. Drivers are required to perform vehicle inspections, minor repairs, and cleaning duties. They are also responsible for monitoring parking areas and grounds for potential security issues.

Essential Functions

• Provides transportation for employees, guests and community groups to and from various locations
• Performs limited maintenance and care of department vehicles and equipment
• Notifies supervisor of anticipated repair needs as appropriate
• Uses the radio to appropriately communicate with dispatch and other shuttle drivers while in route
• Monitors parking area and grounds for suspicious activity or hazards and reports them to the appropriate department
• Ensures appropriate documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with regulations and department policy
