Job summary

East Coast Metal Distributors in Roanoke, VA seeks an energetic delivery driver to transport products to customers, verify quantities, and provide courteous service.

You will operate a company vehicle, load/unload, and maintain logs while adhering to safety rules and DOT regulations; overtime and weekend shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends as requested by the Branch Operations Manager.
• Possess a clean driving record with limited moving violations and accidents.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide superior service.
• DOT physical requirements.
• Verifiable driving experience for non-CDL and CDL driving experience for CDL holders.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Objective:Deliver products to East Coast Metal Distributors' customers in a professional, courteous, helpful and expeditious manner. Ensure proper items and quantities arrive in good order. Provide support to warehouse operations as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely drives a company vehicle to make timely pick-ups and deliveries.
• Loads and unloads products for delivery
• Provides exceptional customer service to customers
• Must be capable of operating mobile applications relevant to logistics and delivery operation
• Completes all assigned training before deadlines.
• Verifies items with proper initialing and dating and notifies manager of any discrepancies before leaving place of delivery.
• Represents East Coast Metal Distributors by wearing clean, company provided uniforms.
• May operate a forklift to move materials and unload vehicles.
• May assist in performing general building maintenance to ensure warehouse is organized, clean, and safe.
• Maintains organized, clean and safe delivery vehicle.
• Notifies Warehouse Manager or Branch Manager of any needed service, repairs, or unsafe conditions.
• Completes daily driver log and returns fuel receipts and other reports to manager daily.
• Participates in organizing delivery schedules.
• Assists in processing sales orders when needed.
• Observes all safety and company rules and regulations in the Driver Safety manual.
• Completes any other duties assigned by the Branch or Warehouse Manager

Required Qualifications

• Willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends as requested by the Branch Operations Manager.
• Possess a clean driving record:
  • No more than one moving violation* in any one-year period, or more than two moving violations in the most recent three years
  • No more than one preventable accident in any two-year period during the most recent three years
  • No restrictions, suspensions, or DUI convictions in the past three years
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical examination requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide superior service
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Non-CDL License Holders: A minimum of 2 - 3 years of verifiable driving experience, operating a 26' box truck, is preferred.
  • CDL License Holders:A minimum of 1 year of verifiable CDL driving experience is required.

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to lift equipment components, parts and machinery. Frequent standing bending, stooping and/or walking are required. Must be able to use body members to work, move, and lift or carry moderately heavy objects, equipment or materials up to 20 pounds. Physical demand requirements are at levels for moderately active work. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and color vision for driving.

Working Conditions and Hazards

Work is mostly performed in a warehouse or truck. Must also be able to perform work in a warehouse that may be dimly lit with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles. There is some risk of exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and gases, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat and loud noises.
