Role Overview
The Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting goods from one place to another using trucks. The role includes loading/unloading cargo and assisting in warehouse operations as needed. All functions may require the use of powered industrial trucks.
Areas of Responsibility
- Receives products from domestic and overseas vendors, transfers, customer returns, refused shipments, and non-inventory support products.
- Accurately audits and verifies all incoming quantities for entry into computerized inventory.
- Performs on and off‑site warehousing duties, including the initial movement of materials to appropriate locations, effective space utilization, and material retrieval delivery, using powered industrial equipment as needed.
- Performs order fulfillment duties, including reviewing and prioritizing available orders, determining stock requirements, maintaining levels of required inventory, physically picking and packing orders, auditing and verifying picked orders, and preparing completed orders for shipping.
- Transports finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers.
- Inspects vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and performs preventative maintenance.
- Plans routes and meets delivery schedules.
- Documents and logs work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retains fuel/toll receipts.
- Complies with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Collects and verifies delivery instructions.
- Reports defects, accidents, or violations.
- Performs shipping duties, including locating pallets to the dock, performing dock audits, verifying driver information, loading shipments onto trucks, properly filling out and signing BOL, packing slips, and verifying documents are matched, and tracking shipments.
- Ensures safety and quality standards are consistently followed, complying with all DOT regulations.
- Ensures full compliance with Company policies, procedures, GMP’s, Ethical Business Practice, and SOP’s at all times.
- Ensures documentation such as operation logs, batch records, etc. are fully completed, signed, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains equipment, keys, refuels the truck, manages gas and expenses, and notifies management of any breakdowns or maintenance issues.
- All drivers must perform a daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection on their truck.
- Maintains proper gowning and hygiene to ensure product integrity as per company policies.
- Works extended hours and occasional weekend overtime.
- Assists Material Handlers and drives the forklift (sit‑down and stand‑up) as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Safety shoes are required to be worn for this position.

- Complies with all job‑related safety and other training requirements.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Requirements
Education & Qualification
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years in distribution/warehousing.
- Minimum of one (2) year work experience in nutritionals, supplements, food or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries preferred.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver; Minimum 2+ years’ commercial driving experience or driving a box truck.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam.
- Hands‑on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.).
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
- Safe driving skills (no at‑fault accidents in the last 3 years, 0‑3 points on a motor vehicle report, and 0‑3 suspensions). Valid driver’s license.
Certifications, Licenses, Credentials
- Must pass CDL physical exam.
- Forklift Certification.
Skills & Ability
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team and assist others.
- Able to follow written instructions precisely and perform basic math calculations as required.
- Understands and is knowledgeable of cGMP, OSHA standards, etc.
- Mechanically inclined to understand the inner workings of equipment.
- Demonstrates the ability to read and write basic English to understand industry‑regulated instruction sheets.
- Prior forklift driving and ticketing experience needed.
- Must pass forklift certification process (both written and driving tests).
Physical Requirements (lifting, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Must stand and walk on the production floor for a minimum of 6 hours per shift.
- Uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, lifting to waist height and/or above shoulder height, frequent bending from the waist, or squatting, walking short distances.
- Occasionally works from a rolling ladder or step stool, must lean over equipment as well as kneel on the floor to clean under the equipment.
- Must be able to wear all PPE including a lab coat, face mask, booties, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, and respirators.
Work Environment (Office, Warehouse, temperature extremes, etc.)
- Work is regularly performed inside a manufacturing environment where temperatures can be low, moderate, exposure to dust, odors, noise, and fumes. The noise level is usually moderate. Employees can be exposed daily to chemicals and cleaning agents.
