Job summary

Peak Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated driver to safely transport patients to admissions, appointments, and events at the facility, ensuring timely service and adherence to safety policies.

You will monitor patient behavior, provide timely reports to the team, assist with crisis situations, and maintain vehicle logs and maintenance records. This is an on-site role with occasional on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification may be required.
  • One or more years’ relevant work experience in behavioral facility preferred.

  • Drives company vehicles to transport patients punctually for admissions, appointments, activities, discharges, and events.
  • Transports visitors or staff as needed.
  • Ensures all passengers wear seatbelts before starting the vehicle.
  • Maintains supervision of patients during transport.
  • Completes transportation documentation and vehicle logs.

About the Job:

Driver is responsible for coordinating and safely transporting patients to and from facility programming including appointments, activity trips, airport shuttle service and other special events in a punctual and timely manner. Also provides monitoring and reporting of patient behaviors, crisis situations, and medical emergencies as needed as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Transports visitors or staff as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drives company vehicles to transport patients for admissions, appointments, activity trips, discharges, and other special events in a punctual and timely manner.
  • Picks up or transports visitors or staff as needed.
  • Assures that all passengers are wearing seatbelts before the vehicle is started.
  • Maintains a constant awareness and supervision of patients while transporting them.
  • Complies with all company safety policies and practices and alleviates any safety issue by resolving or by notifying appropriate persons for assistance as necessary.
  • Serves as a positive role model for patients and peers providing examples of appropriate behaviors, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Encourages open, honest communication to facilitate problem solving on the unit, during transport, and when attending off unit activities.
  • Charts in patient records as appropriate and/or assigned.
  • Provides a verbal report/briefing to the oncoming shift.
  • Responds and adhere to “on call” schedule as required.
  • Accurately and appropriately completes all transportation documentation.
  • Maintains vehicle log(s) and reports maintenance issues to appropriate facility staff.
  • Ensures all company vehicles are kept clean and functional.
  • Maintains vehicles in safe condition and keeps record of vehicle maintenance.
  • Responds to units to assist in behavioral events when needed.
  • Responds and reports any vehicle related incidents.
  • Drives company facility vehicle to pick-up supplies or equipment, as needed.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required, OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. One or more years’ relevant work experience in behavioral facility preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

Valid and in good standing state driver's license required. CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Work Location:

This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.

Supervisory Requirements:

This position is an Individual Contributor.
