Job summary

The University position serves as a backup driver for the university van on trips between Kansas City and Joplin, and may drive other university vehicles as needed. When not driving, you help care for university vehicles and assist campus operations with duties such as mailroom backup, package delivery, room setups and campus furniture moves, and support special events.

• Drive the university van to local and out of town meetings and events.

• Assist with office moves, mailroom backup, package delivery, room setups and furniture moves.
• Support campus operations and special events; represent the department and university professionally.

Job Description:

The position is a backup for the primary driver of the university van on trips between the campuses in Kansas City and Joplin. The position will also drive other university vehicles depending on the need. When not driving the person will help care for university vehicles and assist campus operation with other duties to include, backup to the KC Mailroom, package/mail delivery, room setups and campus furniture moves.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive the university van to local and out of town meetings and events
• Ability to flex their schedule to accommodate varying schedules
• Occasional overnight travel
• The candidate must pass a driver history check by our insurance carrier and be insurable by same carrier

In addition to duties as a driver the position also has the following duties and responsibilities:

• Ensures the campus presents a favorable impression
• Prepares grounds for assigned activities
• Makes sure plants are free of disease and insects, applying chemicals as needed.
• Keeps the ground clear of debris
• Ensures grounds are clear and safe during inclement weather
• Monitors equipment for optimal performance, reporting malfunctions, breakages to the supervisor.
• Maintains KCU vehicles, washing cars, delivering cars for minor preventive maintenance services, taking vehicle in for repairs, performing detail cleaning
• Helps with office and department moves
• Assists with special events
• Contributes to the team effort by performing related duties as needed or assigned
• Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
