Job summary

Hoosier Village, a BHI Senior Living Community in Indianapolis, IN, seeks a Driver to transport residents to appointments and activities and assist with mobility and paperwork as needed.

You will coordinate with staff to schedule and manage vehicle services, while maintaining safety and CDL requirements. The role offers on-site amenities, benefits, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B or C license is required and the driver must maintain CDL.
• Ability to assist residents getting in and out of vehicles and with mobility equipment.
• Maintain DOT compliance and safety rules during driving duties.
• Physical stamina for lifting, pushing, and carrying items as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transports residents or groups to appointments, activities, meals, and other locations on or off campus.
• Assists residents with getting in/out of vehicles and with walkers, wheelchairs, or paperwork.
• Coordinates transportation information with maintenance staff, supervisors, or vendors.
• Manages pickup and drop-off of community vehicles for service appointments.

In This Role You Will:

• Transports residents, or groups of residents, to and from appointments, life enrichment activities, meal service and other locations on or off the community
  grounds, as necessary.
• Assists all residents with getting in and out of the vehicles and with any additional items or equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, medical records or other
  paperwork, grocery bags and/or personal items. May escort residents into or out of the location and/or may wait for residents during the visit or appointment,
  when appropriate.
• Coordinates and communicates transportation vehicle service appointment information with maintenance staff, supervisor and/or service vendors as
  required.
• Accommodates the pick-up and drop-off of community vehicles to and from service appointments.

Qualifications:

• Must meet the Department of Transportation’s physical requirements for a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
• The position requires a Class B or C certified driver’s license (CDL) and may drive all types of company vehicles. The Driver is expected to maintain their CDL, operate more sophisticated vehicles and always adhere to road and safety rules.
• Variation of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Ability to move adequately throughout the workspace and facilities as required to perform
  job duties.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers required to manipulate objects and use various types of office and computer equipment.
• Ability to see and hear within established parameters.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases including bloodborne pathogens, subjected to residents and others with varying degrees of physical, medical,
  psychological, and/or behavioral impairments, and/or exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, e.g., slippery floors, chemicals, etc.
• Physical labor that requires bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying objects.
• Physical stamina to lift, push, pull, carry, or move a light to heavy objects as required to perform job duties.
