Job summary

Tower WAV in the DC area seeks courteous drivers to transport wheelchair users. You provide safe, on-time service using a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, with support for ramps and securement systems. Training and equipment are provided, with no upfront costs.

Shifts are part-time (Sat-Sun evenings). Starting pay is $19/hour plus tips, plus incentives and benefits as eligibility applies. Must pass background and drug tests and hold a valid US driver's license.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 23 years old for insurance purposes
• Valid US Driver's License issued in DC/VA/MD with at least 2 years driving history
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Pass pre-employment background and drug test
• Uber or Lyft ride-share or para transit driving experience is a plus

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Driver Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide transportation to wheelchair users
• Safely drive and operate vehicle
• Follow traffic laws and regulations
• Be extremely customer service oriented
• Use mobile device for routing information to pick passenger up and drive to destination
• This role requires regular assistance of wheelchair passengers, including operating wheelchair ramps and securement systems, and assisting with manually operated wheelchairs. Some passengers, inclusive of their wheelchairs, may weigh up to or exceed 400 pounds.
