Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking a CDL-A driver to operate tractor/trailer for hazardous materials pickups and deliveries in Carteret, NJ.

You will use Samsara e-Logging and ePOD devices to manage loads, maintain safety, and comply with DOT regulations as part of a collaborative logistics team.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL-A with HazMat and Tanker endorsements.
• At least 2+ years of CDL-A driving experience.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• No restrictions on CDL license.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor/trailer to pick up and deliver hazardous materials and wastes.
• Ensure safety and compliance of load per regulations.
• Use Samsara e-Logging to manage driver duties and routing.
• Capture delivery receipts using ePOD and complete shipment documents.

Primary Purpose

Operates and maintains company tractor/trailer/tanker to make pickups and deliveries. Transports hazardous materials and wastes in full compliance with applicable federal, state, local statutes and regulations and company policies. Position requires working tractor/trailer components, including bending and cranking landing gear as well as climbing in and out of cabs and sitting for extended periods of time.

What You'll Do:

• Pick-up and delivery of hazardous materials and wastes
• Ensure safety and compliance of load
• Use onboard Samsara e-Logging Device manage proper driver duty statuses and planned freight order delivery routing sequencing.
• Use ePOD device to accurately capture customer delivery receipt of goods and other relevant shipment documents
• Perform all other duties as required to make proper deliveries and pick-ups for customers

What You'll Need:

• Ability to read, write, count, understand and speak English
• Valid Class A CDL license (with HazMat and Tanker endorsements) and no restrictions
• Ability to use and maintain respiratory protections equipment
• 22 years old or older
• 2+ years of CDL-A driving experience
• Ability to drive a manual and automatic transmission

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions/Other Requirements:

• Physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds, tilt back or break 800 lb. net drums onto a dolly and stand/walk for long periods of time
• Test negative on the company's drug tests
• Satisfy all DOT physical qualifications requirements to qualify & maintain a CDL-A
• May be handling potentially hazardous substances
• Required to wear PPE
