Job description

Overview

The Driver is responsible for transporting and/or aiding in the transportation of individuals to appointments and programs. The Driver reports directly to the Program Supervisor. This position is part of our Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Day Programs. Part‑Time — Monday to Friday hours typically between 7:00AM to 9:00AM and 3:00PM to 5:00PM. May work AM, PM or both shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation services between residential homes, company programs, and offices.
• Assist in developing transportation schedules.
• Transport individuals to appointments.
• Follow safety procedures at all times during vehicle operation, including loading and unloading individuals.
• Perform an established monthly maintenance vehicle check, schedule vehicles for inspection and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in safe condition.
• Complete daily mileage log and other required forms accurately and within allotted time frame.
• Accompany individuals into the community and provide support and assistance in interactions while maintaining sensitivity to their rights and dignity.
• Willing to learn and model the five principles of trauma‑informed care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
• Commitment to promote cultural, racial, language and gender access, diversity, equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have at least 2 years of driving experience.

• Knowledge of the geographic area the program serves.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
