Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to design drilling tools and equipment, create 3D CAD models, perform structural analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

You will prepare drawings and material specifications, participate in testing, and provide technical support to field operations. The role requires 5–8 years of mechanical design experience in oil & gas, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/Creo),

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in oil & gas or drilling equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
• Advanced knowledge of API, ASME, NACE standards, including codes and regulations affecting design development.
• Experience with product design review submittal process with ABS, DNV, ATEX, Lloyds, etc., a plus.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
• Maintain skill in operating a PC with word processing, spreadsheets, databases and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop drilling tools and equipment to meet customer needs or market demands.
• Create detailed 3D models and drawings using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure product integrity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain for feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare engineering documentation including drawings and material specs.
• Investigate and recommend improvements for existing equipment in field or lab.
• Conduct product testing in labs or field locations and provide technical support.
