Job summary

Formentera Operations LLC in Austin, TX seeks a Drilling Engineer to optimize drilling programs across basins and lead mechanical design activities. The role emphasizes safety, environmental responsibility, and collaboration with geologists, reservoir and field operations teams.

The candidate will design, plan, and execute drilling programs while monitoring budgets and writing AFEs, with strong technical communication across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, or related).
• 5+ years of drilling engineering experience in multiple basins.
• Proficiency in drilling software including Wellview and Compass / Wellplan.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and oversee vertical and horizontal drilling programs across basins.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance while optimizing operations.
• Monitor budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and write AFEs.
• Analyze drilling data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir, production, land, and field ops.
• Evaluate vendor performance and stay updated on industry trends.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings.
