Bird Dog is building the fastest, smartest directional service in the country. We are hiring a full-time drilling analytics engineer to help us push the limits of performance.

This role supports both real-time and post-well analysis. You will interpret surface and downhole data, identify dysfunction, and drive better drilling decisions. You will work alongside directional drillers, MWDs, and planners to make sure we are not just drilling wells, but drilling them faster and smarter than anyone else.

This is not a data reporting job. This is field-grade decision support. We are looking for someone who knows what a bad motor run looks like before it fails, who knows when the slide is breaking down in real time, and who can make those calls with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time MWD and surface data across active rigs

• Identify drilling dysfunctions and recommend immediate corrective actions

• Analyze toolface control, slide quality, and motor performance

• Support field teams with daily performance metrics and post-run insights

• Develop execution models by formation and basin

• Work closely with DDs, MWDs, and planning to improve curve and lateral execution

Requirements

• 5 or more years in drilling analytics, MWD, or directional operations

• Proven experience interpreting drilling dysfunctions and high-frequency data

• Familiar with stick-slip, whirl, TF loss, ROP decline, and downhole dynamics

• Strong written and verbal communicator with operational awareness

• Engineering degree preferred but field-proven expertise matters more

• Located in or open to travel to Denver or Midland as needed
