Job summary

Connelly and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Driller / Installer Assistant to support geotechnical, environmental and geothermal drilling projects in Frederick, MD.

This entry-level role provides hands-on training, a safety-first culture, and a clear path to advancement to an operator position. You will assist with drill rigs, grout machines, HDPE pipe, sample collection, and routine equipment checks while keeping a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for 2+ years.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate legibly and clearly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform demanding physical labor.
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds as required.
  • Willingness to travel to out-of-town project assignments and work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Driller with setup, operation, and breakdown of drill rigs, grout machines and HDPE pipe installations.
  • Prepare and stage essential tools and equipment at project sites.
  • Collect and label soil, rock, and groundwater samples according to project specifications.
  • Lay and fuse HDPE pipe according to specifications and industry standards.
  • Load and unload support vehicles safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Assist the Lead Driller or Installer with the efficient setup, operation, and breakdown of drill rigs, grout machines and lateral HDPE pipe installations.
  • Prepare and stage essential tools and equipment at various project sites.
  • Collect and carefully label soil, rock, and groundwater samples according to project specifications.
  • Lay and fuse HDPE pipe according to technical specifications & industry standards.
  • Load and unload support vehicles safely while maintaining a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and minor preventative maintenance to minimize project downtime.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational credential.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for more than two consecutive years.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate legibly and clearly with clients and co-workers.
  • Absolute willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform demanding physical labor.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds as required by field operations.
  • Willingness to travel to out-of-town project assignments and work overtime as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 2 years of related work experience in construction, drilling, HVAC or heavy equipment operation.
  • Basic understanding of construction safety standards on commercial project sits and proper hand tool operation.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or an interest in obtaining one. Possible pay increase for those with CDL.
