Job summary

Action is seeking a hands-on drilling assistant to perform environmental soil and groundwater sampling, well installations, and related drilling tasks. You will assist with geoprobe operations on job sites, maintain logs, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

The role involves travel to remote locations across Florida and the southeast, operating and supporting drilling equipment, and coordinating with engineers and environmental scientists to evaluate subsurface conditions.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience on a drilling crew, preferably geoprobe
• Licensing: Class A or B driver’s license
• OSHA or MSHA safety trainings preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate and support drilling equipment to bore vertical holes and obtain soil and groundwater samples
• Set wells and perform soil/groundwater sampling
• Travel to remote locations in Florida and southeast USA
• Maintain drill logs and ensure equipment is accounted for daily

Job description

Reports to: Branch or Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate must have strong skills in Environmental soil sampling, groundwater sampling, well installation and abandonment. Performing these tasks in a safe manner is a must and a successful candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to conduct drilling operations safely. This position will be responsible for assisting drilling and geoprobe operations on job sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform drilling services and well installations by operating and/or supporting drilling equipment to bore exploratory vertical holes into the earth to evaluate soil type and obtain intact soil and groundwater samples to evaluate subsurface conditions
• Proficient at Drilling and setting wells with HSA, Soil and groundwater sampling with MC-5 and SP-16
• Travel to remote locations throughout Florida and southeast USA in support of project work
• Demonstrate positive attitude, enthusiasm, initiative, and strong organizational abilities
• Safely execute drilling activities according to Action’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, OSHA code of federal regulations
• Inspect drill rigs and associated equipment
• Work with Engineers, Geologists, and Environmental Scientists to obtain soil and groundwater samples to evaluate subsurface conditions
• Operate miscellaneous equipment (e.g. water / steam pressure washers, cement pumps)
• Perform manual labor by assembling and disassembling equipment.
• Maintains an accurate drill log
• Ensure all equipment is accounted for daily
• Ensure sufficient supplies are gathered for the day
• Maintenance and care of all assigned equipment
• Completes all necessary paperwork
• Ensure the Company vehicle is kept clean and orderly
• Active participation in all safety/tailgate meetings
• Additional duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1+ years of experience working on a drilling crew, preferably with geoprobe experience
• Skilled in soil sampling, groundwater sampling, well installation and abandonment required
• Proficient at Drilling and setting wells with HSA, Soil and groundwater sampling with MC-5 and SP-16
• Safety conscious work ethic requiredAbility to travel out of town occasionally
• Class A or B driver’s license required
• Strong organization and communication skills
• 40 hour OSHA and MSHA new miner training preferred
• TWIC Port ID and MICCS cards preferred
• Ability to Read and Write, as well as ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check is required
