Job summary

Palmetto Rock Services, Inc. is seeking a capable Driller to join our Operations team in Augusta, GA. You will operate drill rigs, inspect equipment, and follow safety and drilling specifications on diverse project sites.

Qualifications

• Prior experience running heavy equipment preferred — willing to train.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• OSHA & MSHA training preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post shift inspection of equipment.
• Operate the drill safely per manufacturer specifications.
• Drill holes to the correct depth based on blaster layout.
• Fill drill logs accurately and report issues daily.
• Report drill footage and hours to project management.
• Train on multiple drill rigs.

Description

Palmetto Rock Services, Inc. was formed in 1992 as a specialty subcontractor based in Spartanburg, South Carolina to provide full service rock drilling and blasting services to the construction and mining industries in the Carolinas and Georgia.

Work Environment: Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position performs strenuous physical activity for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions. This position must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above the shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post shift inspection of equipment
• Operate the drill in a safe manner per the manufacturer's specifications
• Understand the drill pattern laid out by the blaster and drill holes to the correct depth
• Fill drill logs out correctly and communicate any issues or problems encountered while drilling
• Report drill footage and hours to the Project Manager, Quarry Manager, and Construction D&B Manager daily
• Train on multiple drill rigs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Prior experience running heavy equipment preferred - willing to train
• OSHA & MSHA training preferred

• must be willing and able to travel to other project sites throughout the Southeast US as needed
