Job summary

Geater Machining and Manufacturing, Co. is seeking a Drill Press/Utility Operator in Independence, IA. The role involves setting up and operating drill presses and related equipment to fabricate or deburr parts, following blueprints, tolerances, and process instructions.

You will measure finished work with appropriate devices, adjust tooling and feeds, and maintain quality through inspections. A high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Read, write and speak English fluently.
• Operate and use required tools and equipment safely.
• Interpret written, oral, or scheduled instructions.
• Read blueprints, specifications, and safety manuals.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Be computer literate.
• Adapt to fast-paced production changes.
• Collaborate with team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate drill presses, hand punches and deburring machines.
• Trim, drill, punch, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces.
• Study blueprints and specs to determine dimensions and setup.
• Select and secure fixtures, tools and materials on machines.
• Set controls for drilling speed, feed, coolant, depth, and angle.
• Monitor operations and verify conformance with specs using measuring devices.
• Communicate with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
