Allstates Consulting Services is looking for experienced Drill Operator operating and maintaining horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, specifically Ditch Witch drill machines, to install underground utilities such as cables, pipes, and conduits with minimal surface disruption. The operator ensures the safe and efficient completion of drilling projects, following blueprints, plans, and safety regulations.
Must be willing to work on a 10 day rotation schedule. 10 days on 10 days off, subject to weather and other conditions. 12+ hours a day. Must be willing to travel within the Middle TN market, when work moves to KY or Alabama you must be willing to travel to those locations.
Someone who already has a Class A CDL will move to the top of the interview list.
Responsibilities:
• Operate Ditch Witch drill rigs to perform horizontal directional drilling tasks according to project specifications.
• Set up and prepare drilling equipment on-site, including rig assembly and positioning.
• Monitor drill machine operation and adjust controls to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Interpret plans, maps, and utility layouts to execute drilling along predetermined paths.
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, crew members, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulations during drilling operations.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reports on drilling activities and equipment status.
• Assist with site cleanup and equipment transport as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience operating Ditch Witch or similar HDD equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of horizontal directional drilling techniques and underground utility installation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
