Job summary

ITG Communications, LLC is seeking a Drill Operator in Topeka, Kansas to operate horizontal directional drilling equipment for conduit, fiber, or utility installations. You will read construction plans, locate utilities, and work with field crews to ensure accurate bore placement and safe operation.

  • Ensure proper placement of conduit using bore logs and tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with field crews to set up equipment, mix drilling fluid, and pull back conduit or pipe.
  • Maintain accurate records of bore lengths, depths, and site conditions.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory safety procedures and requirements.
  • Assist with potholing, locating, trenching, or other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work in various terrain and weather conditions while maintaining productivity and quality.

ITG Communications is hiring a Drill Operator in Topeka, KS.

Purpose

The Drill Operator is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install conduit, fiber, or utility infrastructure as part of construction projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of underground construction techniques and the ability to work safely and efficiently in diverse environments.

Responsibilities
  • Operate drilling rigs and support equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications
  • Read and interpret construction prints, locate utilities, and mark underground services accurately
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance
  • Ensure proper placement of conduit using bore logs and tracking systems

Requirements

  • Frequent work outdoors in varied weather and job site conditions
