Job summary

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Dredge Operator at our Franklinton, LA plant. This role operates dredge and mobile equipment to support safe, efficient aggregate production and plant operations.

Responsibilities include safe equipment operation, daily inspections, and collaboration with plant staff. Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience and the ability to work extended hours in varied outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience operating dredges or similar heavy equipment in a quarry or production setting.
• Ability to safely operate multiple mobile machines and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate dredge and mobile equipment to support aggregate production.
• Promote safety and continuous improvement; participate in safety committees as needed.
• Perform daily pre-shift inspections and communicate with plant staff.
• Work extended hours, including nights and weekends when required.
• Maintain ability to work in varied outdoor conditions and stand for long periods.

Job description

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Dredge Operator based out of our Franklinton, LA plant. This role is responsible for operating dredge and mobile equipment to support safe, efficient aggregate production and plant operations.

Day to Day

• Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
• Help in the production of natural aggregates
• Operate at least 2 pieces of mobile equipment (haul truck, farm tractor, water truck, rubber tire backhoe, front loader, etc.), hydraulic pumps, power winches
• Operate equipment in quarry or production
• Must have excavator and/or dozer experience
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
• Ability to work alone on dredge for long periods of time
• Comply with industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
• Perform daily pre-shift equipment and workplace inspections to maintain equipment performance
• Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operators
• Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
• Ability to operate at least 2 pieces of mobile equipment
• Minimum of 1 year of experience
• Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
• Positive, Team-based attitude
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends and nights when necessary
• The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required.
• The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
• The ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and the ability to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
• The ability to lower anchor poles to verify depths of excavations. Directs or assist workers placing shore anchors and cables, laying additional pipes from dredges to shore, and pumping from pontoons
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Working Conditions

Some jobs could work under harsh conditions including dirty environment, air contamination, intense noise, and restricted movement. May require periods of work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wet, dry and dusty.
