Job summary

Sacramento State is seeking an Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee to support the Dreamer Resource Center and work under the lead of the Program Coordinator, with close supervision. The trainee period lasts up to 12 months to develop necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for advancement.

The incumbent will mentor undocumented, mixed-status students and collaborate with interns and staff to design programs, events, and campus-wide committees that promote student success and inclusive

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior.
• Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information
• Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing
• Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations
• Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews
• Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally, to write clear and concise reports, and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty
• Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Responsibilities

• Deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving undocumented, mixed-status students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience.
• Mentor and advise undocumented, mixed-status students and work with interns and student assistants to support staff who design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students to promote student excellence.
• Participate in and contribute to campus-wide committees, events/programs, and written materials to raise awareness around student excellence.
