Job summary

Groupe SEGULA Technologies SA in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an Electrical Connector Design Engineer responsible for end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of wiring connectors, terminals, seals, and housings from concept through vehicle launch.

You will lead design reviews, manage BOMs, drive DFMEA, coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing, and push cost reductions and standardization across programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop connectors, terminals, seals, and housings; select components based on electrical capacity, packaging, vibration, temperature, and sealing needs.
• Manage engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering change orders through the release process.
• Develop and track DVP&R (electrical, mechanical, environmental testing); lead DFMEA activities and resolve validation failures.
• Coordinate supplier tooling, design reviews, and production readiness; partner with wiring harness, packaging, and manufacturing teams.
• Root-cause connector issues (fretting, corrosion, contact resistance, sealing) during prototype builds and launch; drive cost reduction and component standardization.

Job description

Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of automotive wiring connectors, terminals, seals, and housings from initial concept through vehicle launch and production.

• Component Design & Selection: Develop connectors, terminals, seals, and housings; select components based on electrical capacity, packaging, vibration, temperature, and sealing needs.

• Release & Change Management: Manage engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering change orders through the release process.

• Validation & Testing: Develop and track DVP&R (electrical, mechanical, environmental testing); lead DFMEA activities and resolve validation failures.

• Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate supplier tooling, design reviews, and production readiness; partner with wiring harness, packaging, and manufacturing teams.

• Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Root-cause connector issues (fretting, corrosion, contact resistance, sealing) during prototype builds and launch; drive cost reduction and component standardization.
