Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an experienced engineer to own end-to-end design, development, validation, timing, and production release of body-closure systems, including hoods, doors, liftgates, fenders, and sealing assemblies.

You will lead system releases, coordinate with Electrical, Exterior Trim, and Interior teams, and work with CAE to meet stiffness, crash, durability, and manufacturability targets across stamping and welding processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in Body-in-White (BIW), closures, or exterior vehicle systems.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX or CATIA V5 and Teamcenter PLM.
  • Deep knowledge of high-strength steels, aluminum stamping, welding, GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
  • DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design, packaging, and release of closure structures, moving panels, and operating mechanisms.
  • Coordinate system packaging and clearance requirements with Electrical, Lighting, Exterior Trim, and Interior Engineering.
  • Collaborate with CAE groups to satisfy modal stiffness, crashworthiness, durability, and operational targets.
  • Ensure full component manufacturability across stamping feasibility, weld access, hem lines, and assembly plant processing.
  • Manage DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, CAD models, eBOMs, release milestones, supplier interactions, prototype builds, and assembly plant quality resolutions.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, validation, timing, and production release of body-closure systems, including hoods, doors, liftgates, fenders, sheet metal sub-assemblies, hinges, latches, and sealing systems.


Key Responsibilities


  • System Release: Lead the engineering design, packaging, and release of closure structures, moving panels, and operating mechanisms.

  • Clearance Management: Coordinate system packaging and clearance requirements with Electrical, Lighting, Exterior Trim, and Interior Engineering.

  • Structural Analysis: Collaborate with CAE groups to satisfy modal stiffness, crashworthiness, durability, and operational targets.

  • Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure full component manufacturability across stamping feasibility, weld access, hem lines, and assembly plant processing.

  • Quality & Lifecycle: Manage DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, CAD models, eBOMs, release milestones, supplier interactions, prototype builds, and assembly plant quality resolutions.


Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in Body-in-White (BIW), closures, or exterior vehicle systems.

  • CAD/PLM: Expert proficiency in Siemens NX or CATIA V5, alongside Teamcenter PLM.

  • Domain Knowledge: Deep knowledge of high‑strength steels, aluminum stamping, welding technologies, GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R.

  • Certifications: DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification is strongly preferred.
