Job summary

Chicago Shakespeare Theater seeks a Literary Manager to work with the Artistic Director on commissioning and developing new work, and to provide dramaturgical support across CST productions for each season.

The role oversees submissions, networks with playwrights, and collaborates with Education, Casting, Marketing, Operations, Production and Development to advance CST’s artistic vision.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with the new play development process or dramaturgy.
• Ability to read and evaluate scripts and provide readers reports.
• Ability to communicate clearly with artists, crew, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Read, solicit, and evaluate original script submissions and create reports.
• Maintain a submission log and track script submissions and reports.
• Provide dramaturgical support to CST productions and development readings.
• Collaborate across Education, Casting, Marketing, Operations, and Development departments.
