Responsibilities

  • In communication with GVHS Principal and Director of Student Activities, select production staff and shows.
  • Plan, direct, and produce the fall play and spring musical selecting scripts that align with school policies and community standards.
  • Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Schedule performances and secure necessary permissions/licenses.
  • Interview potential production staff and make hiring decisions with GVHS Principal
  • Teach acting, stagecraft, and production techniques.
  • Mentor students in various roles including acting, directing, and technical support.
  • Lead audition workshops and character development workshops.
  • Meet regularly with Production staff members (Tech, Music, Dance, Pit) & crew heads (Stage Manage, Costumes, Makeup, Props) to communicate the "vision" of a show and address production needs.
  • Oversee set design, lighting, sound, costumes, and props ensuring proper use and maintenance of theater equipment.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and volunteers to support productions.
  • Manage the drama program's budget and organize fundraising events to support productions.
  • Meet regularly with Drama Guild student leaders.
  • Select student Drama Guild award recipients.
  • Ensure a safe environment for students during rehearsals and performances.

BASE SALARY - $7,939.00*

The Drama Guild director plays a pivotal role in fostering students' creativity and managing theatrical productions.

* Due to the current negotiations of the Collection Bargaining Agreement (CBA), an adjustment may need to be made for EDR stipends in the future. If so, changes will be made as soon as the CBA is ratified.
