Port Arthur seeks a Technician II – Drainage to perform semi-skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities for the Streets, Drainage, Pleasure Island, Solid Waste divisions and Water/Wastewater utilities. Qualifications

  • Uses and purposes of general maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Basic operation of machinery and tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment used in city facilities maintenance.
  • Understanding city and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate maintenance equipment such as jackhammers, trucks, mowers, and more to repair city facilities.
  • Travel between city facilities and external agencies to collect/deliver materials.
  • Ensure safety of worksite and set up barricades.
  • Perform minor repairs and report major repairs.
  • Inspect equipment fluid levels and lubricate as needed.
  • Read maps of underground sewer and drainage systems and locate storm drains.
  • Repair and install water, sewer, and storm drain lines and mains.
