Job summary

RINA seeks a Drainage Engineer to join its Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division in Chicago or Lisle, IL. The role centers on drainage design for highway projects, including hydrology and hydraulic calculations, drainage plans, and profile sheets.

The engineer will work with a team to prepare drainage studies and final plans, ensuring compliance with IL DOT, IL EPA, and local policies. A Civil Engineering degree and 2+ years of drainage experience are required; EIT preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in hydrology and hydraulics
  • 2+ years of professional drainage study/design work
  • EIT; PE license preferred
  • Knowledge of MicroStation
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM, and OpenDrainage a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop drainage plans and profiles for roadway projects
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for culverts and storm sewers
  • Prepare drainage studies, hydraulic reports, and Location Drainage Studies
  • Coordinate plan development with engineers and staff to meet standards
