Job description

Harris Kocher Smith is looking for a Water Resource Engineer (Drainage Design Engineer) to work on land development projects for private and public clients. This position offers the flexibility of hybrid or in-office work.

About This Job

As a Water Resources Engineer, you will assist the team with project delivery, including design and coordination with in-house teams, clients, and municipalities. This role provides training and skill development toward project management.

Essential Functions and Duties

• Under general supervision, develop drainage studies and reports, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and designs and drawings according to client specifications and Project Manager instructions.
• Produce engineering plan sets, specifications, and submission documentation following HKS standard procedures and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
• B.S. in Engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years of applicable drainage experience, preferably with local Denver projects.
• Experience designing detention and water quality ponds, stormwater handling features, utility improvements, pipe networks, cross-sections, and profiles.
• Proficiency with MHFD Design Workbooks and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, SWMM, CUHP).
• Experience with CLOMRs/LOMRs.
• Team-oriented individual willing to assist with a range of projects and collaborate with multiple Project Managers.
• Able to identify and resolve problems promptly; skilled in gathering and analyzing information.
• Effective communication skills.

Pay Range:

• $75,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with skills and experience.
