Job summary

ARS-Rescue Rooter in Portland, OR is seeking a Drain Technician to join our service team. You will diagnose drainage issues, explain solutions, and perform cleaning with cables or high-pressure jetting on main and secondary drains.

Responsibilities include maintaining the service vehicle, completing paperwork, and delivering excellent customer service. A high school diploma and plumbing experience are preferred, with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; related experience or training may substitute.
• 1+ years of plumbing experience.
• Experience in drain cleaning and residential service repair is desired.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Describe diagnosed problems to customers and propose solutions.
• Explain features and benefits, obtaining agreement before work.
• Clean drains in homes/commercial buildings using cable or high-pressure jetting; inspect pipes with cameras.
• Unclog sewers, sinks, tubs, toilets using plumbing snakes and machines.
• Maintain and fuel vehicle; stock service truck with parts; document services.
• Transport tools to job site and account for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides a description of diagnosed problems to customer and provides solutions
• Explains the features and benefits of each solution. Obtains agreement for services before performing work
• Cleans drains in homes and commercial buildings by using cable or high pressure water jetting on main drains or secondary drains. Performs pipe inspection with cameras
• Unclogs sewers, kitchen and bathroom sinks, tubs, toilets, etc. using plumbing snakes and machines
• Maintains and fuels vehicle, stocks the service truck with adequate parts and maintains machinery
• Transports materials and tools to the job site and provides proper accounting of tools
• Completes all required documentation on services and may collect, record and deliver fees to the office
• Be able to successfully perform basic drain cleaning functions using small to large sized drain cleaning machines
• Have the basic knowledge of how a plumbing system works
• Be able to remove and reset a toilet and a p-trap

Qualifications

Requirements:

• A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
• One or more years of plumbing experience
• Experience in drain cleaning
• Experience in residential service repair
• Experienced with water heaters and sewer repair and/or replacement a plus
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
