Role Description

The Draftsman role at Delco Trailers is a full-time, on-site position based in Paris, TX. In this role, the Draftsman prepares detailed drawings and technical plans for trailers, including dimensions, materials, and fabrication specifications, using CAD software and company design standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting design requirements, updating and revising drawings based on engineering or production feedback, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with internal quality guidelines. The Draftsman collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support efficient manufacturing processes and resolve design issues. This role also involves maintaining organized drawing files, contributing to design improvements, and supporting continuous refinement of trailer models and components.

Qualifications

• Strong drafting and CAD skills (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) and proficiency in creating detailed technical drawings and 2D/3D models.


• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, fabrication processes, and trailer or vehicle construction, including materials and structural components.


• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, blueprints, and industry standards, and translate them into clear, manufacturable designs.


• Attention to detail, accuracy in measurements and documentation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple drawing projects.


• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineering, production, and quality departments.


• Basic computer proficiency, including standard office software, and comfort working with digital file management and version control.


• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or associate degree in drafting, design technology, or a related field preferred.


• Experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, automotive, or trailer industry is a plus; willingness to learn and adapt to company standards is essential.
