Job summary

Knobelsdorff Enterprises in Minnesota is seeking a design drafting intern to support engineering, preconstruction, and project teams on industrial electrical and automation projects. You will help develop 2D/3D models, validate quantities, and assist with drawing standards under experienced supervision.

You should be pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or Drafting, with familiarity in AutoCAD and basic knowledge of engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Drafting, or related field.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and drafting/modeling tools.
• Basic knowledge of Architectural, Electrical, Civil, and structural engineering drawings.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design deliverables with engineering, preconstruction, project management, procurement, and construction teams.
• Assist in developing and maintaining 2D and 3D models of electrical equipment, systems, and site layouts.
• Assist with validation of project quantities and identify discrepancies between design documents, procurement assumptions, and field installation requirements.
• Utilize and follow established company drafting standards, templates, assemblies, and design practices.
• Support field teams through design clarification, layout coordination, and resolution of drawing-related issues during project execution.
• Identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, and coordination issues and elevate them to the appropriate project stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of design processes, drafting standards, templates, and project execution practices.
• Additional duties as assigned.
