Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks a Drafter - Transmission Line to support design activities across projects. You will work on transmission line designs, using 3D software and CAD tools to ensure accuracy and quality from inception to completion.

Reporting to a Lead Designer, the role requires collaboration within teams, adherence to standards, and occasional travel for project assignments while contributing to safe, efficient, and reliable power delivery infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design preferred.
• Experience in drafting disciplines, Civil/Structural or transmission design preferred.
• Experience with 3D design software (AutoCAD Inventor, SDS, etc.) preferred.
• Word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software familiarity.
• Extensive knowledge of various CAD programs.
• Basic knowledge of transmission line components.

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on transmission line projects.
• Utilize 3D design software for transmission line design.
• Maintain quality and accuracy of work.
• Research information in catalogs, specs, and standards.
• Learn and use the document management system; suggest improvements.
• Apply corporate engineering practices and communicate issues to responsible parties.
• Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About this Role

Job Title: Drafter - Transmission Line

At QISG, our Transmission Line teams play a vital role in the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of power across communities and regions. We design, build, maintain, and upgrade high-voltage transmission infrastructure that supports the backbone of the electric grid. Whether working on new construction, line upgrades, or critical maintenance, our teams ensure projects are executed with the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. Our work involves both traditional methods and the latest industry innovations to deliver sustainable, cost-effective, and reliable solutions for our customers.

The Drafter, Transmission will perform routine Transmission Line design assignments. This position will report to a Lead Designer and support transmission line projects across the QISG platform.

What You'll Do

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various transmission line projects.
• Utilize 3D design software for transmission line design.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material.
• Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements.
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design is preferred.
• Experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred.
• Experience with 3D design software (AutoCad Inventor, SDS, etc.) is preferred.
• Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software.
• Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs
• Basic knowledge of the major components of transmission lines
• Basic oral and written communications
• Working in a team environment
• Communicating effectively with co-workers
• Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.
