DRAFTER III
MOBILE AND TUSCALOOSA, AL
This position provides the Project & Design Teams with experienced drafting support to create and modify architectural drawings during all phases of project design and implementation. Acts as a lead resource for Drafter I and Drafter II positions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Prepares complete and accurate detailed drawings involving structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems using advanced computer-aided drafting techniques in compliance with designated due dates.
- Prepares construction bid documents.
- Ensures that all project drawings and revisions are properly controlled and maintained in the designated project files.
- Applies current building codes, city, state and federal regulations, American with Disabilities Act requirements and other regulatory guidelines as appropriate.
- Assists with project management to ensure completion in accordance with designated design, code, specification, construction standards and schedule requirements.
- Maintains and fosters client and consultant relationships.
- Continually keeps project architect, project manager, supervisor and/or principal informed of project status and of pertinent issues as they arise.
- Provides training, direction and assistance for Drafter I and Drafter II positions.
- Ensures that all hours are accurately entered at the project level in the time tracking module each day.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems.
- Follows all Ward Scott Architecture, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Performs these and other duties as assigned and performs them with minimal supervision.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
- High School or Post Secondary Training in AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Advanced drafting skills required.
- Additional coursework in architecture, industrial design or related fields preferred.
- Five years of drafting experience required; eight years preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Expertise with current building codes, city, state and federal regulations, American with Disabilities Act and other regulatory codes required.
- Must have advanced working knowledge of architectural and construction design operations.
- Must have good communication skills and ability to effectively interface with others.
- Valid driver’s license required.
