Job summary

ZCS is seeking a Drafter II in our drafting department to collaborate with structural engineers, leverage BIM (Revit) and develop construction documents for diverse projects. You will manage project scope, deadlines, and support design through construction documentation.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, teamwork, and planning skills, with experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or equivalent in architecture/engineering or related drafting experience.
  • 3+ years post-graduate drafting in a consultive environment.
  • Strong technical skills and attention to details under deadlines.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction documents for residential, K-12, and commercial projects.
  • Manage workload with project deadlines and budget considerations.
  • Assist design processes from schematic through construction documents.
  • Collaborate with in-house and external project partners.

Description

As a Drafter II in the drafting department, you will work with our structural engineers to ultimately leverage your in-depth knowledge of BIM technology (Revit, specifically), engineering and construction, strategic thinking, collaborative skills, and strong communication acumen to manage the drafting of assigned projects to support other disciplines and develop construction documents. The responsibilities of this position include:



  • Utilize knowledge and experience in engineering and BIM technologies to develop construction documents for projects ranging from private residences to K-12 campuses and commercial developments.

  • Manage individual workload to produce construction documents including project status monitoring, project deadlines, and completing projects on time and on budget.

  • Assist with project development and support architectural and engineering staff through standard design processes (schematic design, design development and construction documents).

  • Collaborate with project partners (in-house disciplines, owners, architects, sub-consultants, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program, bachelor's degree in civil engineering from and ABET accredited university, associate degree in drafting or related degree, or comparable work experience required.

  • 3 years minimum post graduate architectural, structural engineering, civil engineering, or drafting experience in a consulting firm that provides architectural, structural, or civil engineering services.

  • Critical thinking with engagement skills coupled with detailed execution of concepts in a deadline driven arena.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must possess strong technical skills and have an aptitude for project management.

  • Ability to travel (occasionally) as we support projects throughout the state.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. keyboarding, data entry).

  • Must be able to see and hear to gather and input information; respond to face‑to‑face and telephone inquiries.

  • Must be able to drive and have a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to occasionally life, push, pull, and carry materials weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.

  • Able to work in low light conditions, with desk lamps versus overhead lighting.

  • Ability to walk throughout a warehouse floor following our internal safety guidelines.
