Job Summary

The CAD Drafter / Designer position provides a solid foundation for a career in architecture, process equipment/piping design, and facility design. The role involves creating drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software in both 2D and 3D formats, focusing on mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and equipment layouts for food and beverage process facility projects. Knowledge of architectural concepts, practices, regulations, standards, and building materials is required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Create design drawings with CAD software in 2D and 3D, under the guidance of engineers and senior designers.
  • Coordinate with Designers, Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers to produce project-specific design drawings.
  • Read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and piping plans.
  • Analyze information to develop effective approaches for completing design drawings.
  • Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and standards.
  • Prepare documents that meet quality standards and project schedules.
  • Develop and coordinate small drawing sets.
  • Work with clients and engineering teams to define requirements for design and construction documents.
  • Review finished drawings against markups and CAD standards.
  • Manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
  • Utilize BIM360, Navisworks, MS Office, AutoCAD 2020, and Plant 3D.
  • Assist construction managers with field coordination issues.
  • Research best practices in CAD drafting and design.
  • Support talent development within the organization.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Associate Degree is required; a bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field is preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience or schooling in CAD drafting for food and beverage or similar facilities.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Plant3D, CADWorx, or similar programs.
  • Revit and Inventor experience is a plus.
  • Experience designing Food and Beverage processes is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to client sites.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting and working at a desk on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Travel Requirement

  • Up to 20% travel to project sites and offices.
