Job description

Responsibilities

• Uses CAD software to generate detailed engineering drawings necessary to support engineering studies and reports.
• Works closely with design originators, preparing drawings or computer models of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision. Performs difficult assignments requiring initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
• Ensures that potential problems in manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved through the drawings produced. Exercises independent judgment in interpreting data based on design intent.
• Occasionally interprets general designs prepared by others to complete minor details. May provide guidance to lower-level drafters or serve as a coordinator and planner for large drafting projects.
• Oversees and coordinates drafting activities across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Certification from a two-year accredited Technical School in Drafting with six years of drafting experience, or a High School diploma with eight years of drafting experience. Completion of an academic year at an accredited technical school may substitute for up to one year of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Desired Qualification
