Job summary

Crane 1 Services is seeking a Drafter to lead detailed production and field drawings for overhead crane and runway structures in Tulsa, OK. You will work with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to design efficient solutions that meet customer specs and industry codes.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of mechanical design or drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency (3D & 2D).
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards and industry codes preferred.
  • Familiarity with overhead crane systems or structural fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and installation teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create multi-view production and installation drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure designs meet engineering standards, customer specs, and industry codes.
  • Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols and other standard symbols.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for designed equipment.
  • Review design accuracy before release to manufacturing and installation teams.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior designers and draftsmen.
  • Collaborate with engineering, electrical, structural, civil, and installation teams.
  • Support field teams with drawings, guidance, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with design reviews and recommend improvements for manufacturability and installability.
  • Develop technical documentation, specs, and procedures.

Job description

The Drafter is responsible for leading the development of detailed production and field drawings used by our manufacturing facilities and installation teams for overhead crane and runway structure fabrication. This role serves as a key technical resource, ensuring designs meet engineering standards, customer specifications, and industry codes.

The Drafter works closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and field installation teams to develop accurate and efficient design solutions for turnkey material handling projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, combined with strong mechanical design knowledge and exceptional attention to detail, is essential for success in this position.

Salary: $55k-$65k

Responsibilities
  • Develop multi-view production and installation drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, engineering requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Properly annotate drawings using AWS D1.1 weld symbols and other standardized symbols to clearly communicate fabrication and assembly requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) to accurately define all components of designed equipment.
  • Review and verify design accuracy prior to release to manufacturing and installation teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior designers and draftsmen.
  • Collaborate with engineering, electrical, structural, civil, and installation teams to support turnkey project execution.
  • Support manufacturing and field installation teams by providing technical guidance, drawing clarification, and problem resolution.
  • Assist with design reviews and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, manufacturability, and installation performance.
  • Develop technical documentation, specifications, and procedures for internal and customer use.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during fabrication or installation.
Drafter Skills And Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (3D and 2D modeling).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, welding practices, and structural components.
  • Experience preparing detailed fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials.
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards and other applicable industry codes preferred.
  • Familiarity with overhead crane systems, lifting equipment, or structural fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent technical communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience reviewing designs and providing technical guidance to other designers is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical field preferred.
