Job summary

Champion Home Builders, Inc. in Lake City, FL is seeking a Drafter to join our manufacturing team. You will create detailed construction drawings from rough sketches and CAD data, supporting sales and production with accurate, code-compliant designs.

You will work with engineers and production staff to resolve design issues, ensure drawings meet US building codes, and prepare documents for third-party approvals. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 2–5 years' AutoCAD experience.
• AutoCAD 2015 or higher experience.
• Knowledge of US building codes.

Responsibilities

• Creates designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings of walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, elevations, etc.
• Uses CAD to create detailed drawings and installations.
• Drafts drawings for third-party approvals and ensures they meet building codes.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Exercises discretion and judgment, creates model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes. Performs calculations and analysis to support designs by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Creates designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, foundation elevations, etc.
• Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software to create detailed drawings.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings of houses and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, potable water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, pier blocking, elevations, etc.
• Drafts limited approvals and submits to sales and third-party agencies.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.
• Confers with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems.
• Lays out, redesigns, and modifies home arrangement and interconnection components and systems.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete.
• Generates calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software.
• Submits drawings to third-party agencies for approval.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school which includes advanced training in AutoCAD or two to five years' work experience using the AutoCAD software; or equivalent combination of education and training.

Qualifications:

• AutoCAD software experience using 2015 or higher
